Jennifer Donovan
As well as studying for a PhD at the Institute of Education I am a full-time Lecturer in Specific Learning Difficulties (dyslexia) and Lead AMBDATutor for the modules at the Institute that are accredited by the British Dyslexia Association. My research interests primarily lay in the field of developmental dyslexia, particularly in the approach to assessment, however I am interested in all aspects of children’s literacy and a range of developmental disorders. I am currently researching an alternative interactive approach to assessment that could be utilised in schools to gain a more in-depth understanding of the strategies children adopt when spelling.
Before joining the IOE I worked as a specialist teacher supporting learners with developmental dyslexia and bring a teacher’s perspective to research into developmental dyslexia.
